Your new role
As Assistant Corporate Legal Adviser, you will provide expert legal advice on a wide range of matters including governance, constitutional law, procurement,contracts, and company law. You'll play a key role in supporting high-priority projects such as public enquiries, strategic litigation, and sector-wide legal initiatives. The role also involves interpreting legislation, drafting legaldocuments, and advising on compliance and risk. You'll work closely with senior leadership, external legal advisers, and public sector bodies, while also mentoring junior legal staff and contributing to training and developmentinitiatives.
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified solicitor, barrister, or CILEX lawyer with ideally 5 years' PQE.
- Strong understanding of local government law and thewider public sector legal landscape.
- Proven ability to manage complex legal matters withpolitical sensitivity and strategic insight.
- Excellent drafting, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience advising on governance, contracts, procurement, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality legal services under pressure.
