Cleansing Operative (Grade 15) – Manual Labour
Glastonbury Highway Depot, Somerset 37 hours/week | Sat–Weds shift pattern Temporary (13 weeks) | Inside IR35 PAYE: £12.45/hr | Umbrella: £16.10/hr Start Date: 22 September 2025
Somerset Council is seeking a reliable and hard-working Cleansing Operative to join the Regulatory & Operations team. Based in the Mendip area, this role plays a vital part in keeping our streets clean, safe, and welcoming for the local community.
Key Responsibilities:
Empty litter and dog waste bins across designated routes
Perform litter picking and manual street sweeping
Remove fly-tipped waste and report environmental hazards
Operate either a street barrow or council van for mobile duties
Start daily from Glastonbury Depot between 5:00–6:00am
A full UK driving licence is essential for this mobile role. Due to early start times, this role is best suited to candidates living locally.

Is physically fit and able to handle manual labour tasks
