About the Role

Are you passionate about using data to drive meaningful change? Join Surrey County Council's Team Around the School Support Hub (TASSH) and help shape the future of inclusive education across the county.

Sitting within the Early Intervention, Prevention and Support (EIPS) sector of our Children, Families and Lifelong Learning Directorate, TASSH works in close partnership with schools, early years settings, families, and services to ensure children with emerging needs, those at SEN Support level, and disadvantaged pupils can thrive in mainstream education.

As a Performance Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our early intervention resources are targeted effectively and deliver real value for money. Your work will directly support better outcomes for children and families, helping schools respond to needs earlier and more efficiently. This is a role where your analytical expertise will have a tangible social impact.

What you'll be doing as an EIPS Performance Officer:

  • Delivering a responsive and insightful performance information service, supporting key programmes and statutory inspections
  • Producing regular reports and analysis from client information systems to inform decision-making across services
  • Developing and maintaining a service-specific school dashboard that supports national initiatives like the Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools
  • Promoting the use of data systems to enhance frontline delivery and collaboration across services
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external partners, e.g. NHS organisations
  • Enhancing self-service data capabilities and training team members to use them effectively
  • Designing and launching the new TASSH Dashboard, a key tool in our strategic planning

Shortlisting Criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position your CV and answers to the questions below will clearly evidence:

  • Authoritative understanding of performance information and intelligence
  • Ability to manipulate complex databases to produce high quality reports
  • Advanced skills in software tools for data analysis and reporting (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, AI tools).
  • Experience working with both local and national datasets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach and the ability to work independently

Application Questions

  • Tell us about a time you used performance data to influence decision-making or improve service delivery. What was the outcome, and how did your analysis contribute to it?
  • Describe a situation where you developed or improved a data dashboard or reporting tool. What technologies or software did you use, and how did it enhance service efficiency or collaboration?
  • Give an example of how you've worked collaboratively with internal or external partners to deliver a data-driven solution. How did you ensure the information was accessible and useful to a range of audiences?
  • Describe a time when you identified a gap or inefficiency in data collection or analysis. What steps did you take to address it, and what was the result?

The job advert closes at 23:59 on 24/09/2025 with interviews planned for the 3rd October at our Victoria Gate office in Woking.

Local Government Reorganisation

Surrey County Council is preparing for Local Government Reorganisation which will allow us to implement the Government led policy of devolution, which is all about giving more powers to local areas.

Currently, Surrey has a two-tier council system, with 11 district and borough councils and a county council, all responsible for different services. All these councils will be reorganised into a smaller number of new unitary councils which will come into effect in April 2027. At this point, this role will be transferred, with all existing terms and conditions intact into one of the new unitary councils.

Join our dynamic team and shape the future of local government. Make a lasting impact with innovative solutions and improved services for our community. Help us build a brighter future for our residents!

Our Commitment

Surrey County Council is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer. A guaranteed interview will be offered to all disabled applicants where:

  • The candidate has evidenced the minimum criteria for the role through their application
  • The candidate has chosen to share that they have a disability on the application form

Our application form and onboarding process will provide an opportunity to request any reasonable adjustments for the interview and/or the role.

We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all underrepresented groups.
