Crynodeb

This is an exciting time to join the team at the beginning of the Commissioner’s tenure. You will have the opportunity to help shape the direction of the office and deliver justice for people who have experienced significant loss and trauma. You’ll be working with passionate colleagues and inspiring organisations who are committed to justice and to supporting those affected.

This is a meaningful role for someone passionate about community engagement and social justice. As a Lived Experience Engagement Officer, you will ensure that the voices of those directly affected by the Home Office Windrush Scandal are heard, respected, and central to the Commissioner’s work. You will help build trust, foster collaboration, and support the co-design of solutions that reflect the lived realities of impacted communities. The role will also involve proactive outreach to communities across the African, South Asian, and wider Commonwealth diasporas, many of whom may be less aware of their rights and entitlements under the Windrush Schemes. Building trust and raising awareness in these communities is essential to ensuring that all those affected are heard and supported.

  • Facilitate co-design processes to develop solutions with community input
  • Build and maintain partnerships with grassroots organisations and local stakeholders
  • Provide insights and feedback to inform the Commissioner’s priorities and recommendations
  • Organise and participate in outreach events, listening sessions, and community forums
