Summary
Drug Detection Dog Handler
Rate:£15.02ph (Based on an average of 176hrs per month).
The hourly rate equates to a basic annual salary of £31,722 before overtime.
Hours exceeding 176 attract overtime renumeration at time and a half.
Bank holiday hours worked attract enhanced pay equivalent to double time.
22 days paid annual leave plus the 8 prescribed Bank Holidays.
Kennelling equivalent to leave entitlement provided by the company.
Please note below the package in relation to the provision of a work vehicle and fuel for company business. This removes any costs from an employee in relation to travel to and from the workplace.
Place of Work:
Nationally: Issued with a company vehicle and fuel card and all accommodation costs will be catered for on National deployments, which include tax free overnight subsistence payments.
Role Profile:
Working with two Drug Detection Dogs to search varied environments, providing a drug detection capability to a range of clients across the UK.
An experienced security professional, you will respond to requests for dog and handler searches, in accordance with the client requirements, consisting of both passive (person screening) and proactive canine searches. You will also promote the use of specialist search dogs and awareness of their capabilities, providing specialist security advice where appropriate. You will work closely with our clients to ensure service provision meets targets, completing deployment reports and communicating any issues to your manager. You will also identify any security risks, report these to the client and provide relevant documentation to satisfy regulators.
With the facilities and ability to kennel two dogs at your home address, you will be responsible for their care and control, including off duty care and housing. You will ensure the provision of the dogs' feeding, grooming, medical and welfare needs in compliance with animal welfare legislation. You will also be responsible for transporting yourself and your dogs to deployments, supervising and controlling the dogs in compliance with legislation, and the evaluation and reporting of your dogs' performance.
Liaise with your line manager and other handlers, to ensure various administrative tasks are completed (Canine Training Folder, Deployment reports, Mileage Sheets).
A suitable vehicle with fuel card will be provided as a personal issue vehicle used for work purposes and canine welfare requirements. You will be expected to work, travel and respond to emergency call-outs as required.
Care and control of 2 x ICTS Search Dogs:
- This includes off duty care and housing at the handler's home address.
- Duties include, feeding, grooming, exercising, and ensuring veterinary and welfare needs are met in compliance with animal welfare legislation (all associated costs provided by the company).
- Transportation of dogs and self to deployments and training (Company Vehicle and Fuel Card provided).
- Supervision and control of the dogs in compliance with legislation and BS8517.
- Evaluation and reporting of dog's performance.
- Provision of specialist advice where appropriate
- Promotion of security procedures.
- Compliance with company Health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
- Compliance with company and client assignment instructions.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:
Abilities:
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills.

- Willingness and ability to travel as required to sites across the UK, occasionally at short notice and can include overnight stays

Experience:
- Police or military working dog handler qualifications desirable.
- NASDU Qualifications or equivalent desirable.
Additional:
- Proof of Right to Work in the UK, if applicable
- Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Counter Terrorism Checks (CTC) to the required level
