Crynodeb
To work as part of the Sleep Disorder Centre team to develop and expand the service. Support the existing departmental activity including overnight polysomnography (PSG), Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of wakefulness Test (MWT), Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy, oximetry, WatchaPAT and actigraphy studies. Carry out overnight full and limited cardio-respiratory polysomnography on patients with a range of sleep disorders including sleep disordered breathing, REM and non-REMparasomnias, sleep movement disorders, nocturnal epilepsy and insomnia. Analyse, interpret and report on respiratory and full PSG data, home oximetry, WatchPAT and actigraphy, and liaise with consultants, GPs, other healthcare professionals and patients on diagnosis, results of studies and treatment plans. Initiate CPAP and NIV therapy and provide ongoing support for patients, reviewing and adjusting treatment as necessary. Participate in the management of the staff including annual appraisals, performance management and induction of new staff. Assist with the training and mentoring of the staff in order to develop the expertise within the team in line with departmental objectives. Contribute to the business planning process for development and expansion of the service. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with others to meet the needs of the patient and provide best possible care. The post holder will be required to work different shifts including night and twilight patterns.
