Contract: Part-time, Temporary (with potential for extension)
Hours: Morning sessions, Monday to Friday 9.30am till 1.30pm
About the role:
We’re delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a lively and welcoming primary school near Carlisle, known for its nurturing ethos and strong team spirit. The school’s Reception/Foundation Stage unit is a busy, engaging environment where children are encouraged to explore, play, and grow with confidence.
We are seeking a part-time Teaching Assistant to join the Early Years team, supporting children in their first steps of learning. This role is ideal for someone with a calm, energetic approach and a genuine passion for early childhood development.
Key Responsibilities:
Support children across the EYFS curriculum, encouraging curiosity and independence.
Assist with phonics, play-based learning, and daily routines in a structured yet flexible setting.
Work closely with the class teacher to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment.
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing through gentle guidance and encouragement.
Contribute to observations and assessments, helping track progress and celebrate milestones.
What We’re Looking For:
• Experience working within an EYFS classroom or nursery setting is essential
• A Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred
• A warm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting young learners
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• A genuine enthusiasm for early years education.
