What skills and experience we're looking for
Inspire. Aspire. Enrich.
The Governing Body of Wheelers Lane Primary School is seeking a committed and visionary Headteacher to lead our successful, inclusive, and values-driven school into the next stage of its development. This is an exciting opportunity for a leader with a strong track record and a passion for high-quality, child-centred education to build on our strengths and shape the future of a vibrant school community.
We are looking for a leader who can combine strategic vision with compassionate, day-to-day leadership. The successful candidate will:
• Lead a talented and committed team, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion and continuous learning.
• Shape and implement a clear strategic direction, with high standards of teaching and learning at its heart.
• Strengthen early years provision and ensure robust approaches to phonics, assessment and attendance.
• Champion pupil and staff wellbeing, staff development and a whole-school approach to pastoral care.
• Build strong, positive relationships with families, staff, governors and the wider community.
About you
We are seeking a leader with energy, integrity and a clear commitment to inclusive education. You will:
• Be an experienced senior leader with a proven ability to inspire and influence others.
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative leadership style.
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of curriculum, pedagogy and school improvement.
• Use data insightfully to shape priorities and track progress.
• Lead with empathy, optimism and a child-centred focus.
What the school offers its staff
At Wheelers Lane, you’ll join a school with a strong foundation, a committed staff team, and a governing body that is both supportive and ambitious. We value professional growth and staff wellbeing, and we are ready to work alongside a new leader to realise our shared aspirations for every child.
