The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Adults Social Worker to join our Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities (CTPLD). The CTPLD is a specialist Social Care service supporting adults with lifelong learning disabilities that significantly impact their daily lives.

Our team is known for being supportive, skilled and deeply committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred practice. We work in close partnership with health professionals, care providers, families, and community resources to empower individuals to live fulfilling and independent lives. At the same time, we ensure our statutory responsibilities are met—an aspect of the role that brings many challenges, including economic pressures, limited provision, complex needs, and the demands of balancing multiple priorities. We approach these challenges with professionalism, compassion, and a strong commitment to upholding the rights and wellbeing of the people we support.

This role is a vital statutory function within Adult Social Care, ensuring compliance with key legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Human Rights Act 1998 and Equality Act 2010 as well and the associated safeguarding frameworks.

As a Social Worker in CTPLD, you will contribute to legally robust, high-quality practice that supports adults with learning disabilities—balancing individual rights, risk management, and public protection.

This is a rewarding opportunity to carry out meaningful statutory work within a specialist service, ensuring adults with learning disabilities receive lawful, support tailored to their needs.

In this role, you will;

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake Care Act assessments, reviews, and support planning in line with statutory guidance.
Apply the Mental Capacity Act and contribute to Best Interest decisions.
Lead and support safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act.
Prepare clear, evidence-based reports to support professional decision-making.
Work collaboratively with individuals, families, health colleagues, providers, and other agencies to deliver coordinated responses to complex needs.
Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and statutory frameworks.
Complete Community DoLS applications.
Participate in weekly duty alongside the lead social worker.

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
