Summary

Personal Assistant/Support Worker

I am a kind, polite and well-mannered young man with a good sense of humour, I am looking for a personal assistant to help me live life to the fullest. I enjoy going out with support and spending time with friends, as long as it’s not too busy or noisy. I also enjoy browsing my tool and paint catalogues and love construction and DIY websites especially videos I find on YouTube about construction. I like to exercise using my exercise bike and Wondercore, also doing Joe Wicks videos.

A typical day with me might include a trip to the Gym, swimming, visiting a museum or just enjoying a walk round DIY stores like B&Q or even trying something new, I’m open to suggestions.

I have autism and learning disabilities. I struggle to communicate sometimes. I can't read or write or understand people's emotions. I can't drive myself or go on a bus, so I need someone to drive me and support me in the community always ensuring I’m safe.

Sometimes, I get buzzy and upset with loud noises like sirens, sharp noises like ice-cream vans and vehicle reversing beeps, when I get to this level, it happens very quickly, I have absolutely no control over it and will start shouting obscenities at anyone and everyone I see. I may need to be physically prevented from hurting myself or others. When these things happen, I need to be comforted and reassured so that I feel safe, I cannot be reasoned with afterwards so trying to explain how what I did was wrong will only upset me as I simply can't understand.

I need you to support me when we are out in the community with helping me to read, prompting me to drink, go to the toilet, and to use my ear defenders as soon as any noise starts.

I would love to work with someone who is kind, friendly, compassionate, patient and honest, I would also like you to be jokey, fun, understanding, and supportive.

I live in Biggar so it’s important you’re comfortable working in this area.

Experience with Autism is essential.

Driver with clean licence is essential, you will be required to drive my car.
