In addition, the post holder will initiate and undertake research and development in imaging physics. This could include projects which are self-initiated, collaborative within the department, or collaborative with external stakeholders, including co-supervising University student projects. The University of Nottingham has a large team of internationally renowned MR researchers, and has played a key role in the development of MRI. It houses a range of MR equipment, from the whole body 7T scanner to an upright human MR system, and is currently constructing the UK national 11.7T facility. Strong collaborative links exist between the hospital and university MR groups, and the post holder would be encouraged to participate in this collaboration. Depending on the research experience of the post holder, he or she may be eligible to apply for an associate/honorary faculty appointment at the University, which we would strongly support. You should be a HCPC registered clinical scientist, or eligible to apply e.g., completing the STP with specialism in imaging with non-ionising radiation. We would support the post holders future application for a HSST place if required. Duties will be split 80% for MRI and 20% for Ultrasound.
