Applications are open for a HPB Senior Clinical Fellow who wishes to gain experience in
Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic surgery. The role would be suitable for a senior trainee as is for a
maximum of five months.
• The Senior Clinical Fellow will be expected to manage Pre and post op patients.
• The Senior Clinical Fellow will be encouraged to publish and present at local and
international meetings in HPB.
• Modular HPB cases hands on training (STU) for both benign and malignant conditions.
• Cross site case observations.
• Undertake a 1:18 on-call rota to support emergency care.

In addition to HPB registrar work, the duties of the post include providing senior cover for HPB
patients, attending theatre/outpatient sessions and care of admitted General Surgical patients. There
is a commitment to the acute general surgical rota (commensurate with experience). The appointed
candidate will be expected to carry out a degree of clinical work (clinics) independently. There is
access to modern imaging (CT PET), Endoscopy (ERCP and EUS) and robotics on single site.
This post offers excellent exposure and experience in complex HPB surgery. The Senior Clinical
Fellow is expected to develop operative skills in robotic surgery and judgement in the care of such
patients through the full spectrum of the specialty.
