Job Description
Befriender role for a 10-year-old child with special needs (Down Syndrome). To help him access the community.
Roles and Responsibilities
The befriender will spend 4 hours a week during school time and 16 hours during the school holiday. The befriender will offer positive social interaction, encouragement and building a safe and trusting friendship.
Encourage social companionship and friendship through play, conversation and shared activities. Encourage social and communication skills in a fun and supportive and age-appropriate way, ensure safety and wellbeing at all times, commit to regular contact to provide stability and consistency for my child.
Kind, patient, caring able to build a warm, trusting relationship with my son.
Enjoys spending time with children ad engagement in fun, creative and age-appropriate activities.
Required Training
No formal qualifications required. The right attitude and qualities are most important.
