Location - Trafford Council, Sale Waterside, Sale, Cheshire, M33 7ZF with some opportunity for hybrid working

Salary range - Band 6 £34,434 - £36,363 ( £29,617 - £31,277 pro rata term time only)

Working hours 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday

About the Role

We currently have an exciting vacancy within our SEN Advisory Service to join our friendly and supportive team and bring new experience, knowledge and ideas into the service. This is an exciting opportunity to work across Trafford in PVI settings and schools. The post will work under the direction of the SEN Consultants and Service Manager to support Early Years children and young people with SEND. You will carry out observations, model specialist approaches, complete assessments and identify needs in order to provide advice and information to families and Early Years Practitioners in line with Portage Principles, SEND Code of Practice 2015 and the Equality Act 2010.


About you

Your style and approach will reflect our values and behaviours: you will be committed to continually learning & improving the way you do things to ensure effective outcomes for children, young people and their families. You will work together to deliver service and be an inclusive and reflective practitioner. Your ability to listen and provide advice will demonstrate your commitment to pupil voice and working closely with families.

You will be able to work independently as well collaboratively. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and should have 2-5 years of experience of working with children in the Early Years with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. You must hold a minimum of NVQ 3 qualification for Teaching Assistants.

Trafford SEN Advisory Service (SENAS) provides advice and information to Early Years settings, schools and colleges to meet the needs of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We work with parents, Education, Health and Social care staff to ensure that children and young people in Trafford are supported in their education. We work together to identify a child or young person’s needs and ensure that reasonable adjustments are made to enable them to learn.

SENAS works closely with Inclusion Services across Trafford. We contribute to the statutory assessment process and liaise with families and staff. We aim to build capacity through inclusive teaching and reasonable adjustments to the environment, the curriculum and assessments.
