We pride ourselves on leading for new, innovative and sustainable products and solutions, both for today and for a new era of building.To support our progress, we are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to come and join our team at our Parkhouse Factory in Newcastle, Staffordshire, ST5 7RZ.As the Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for plant wide proactive and reactive maintenance activities, to ensure the optimum performance of the factory, whilst working in a small team of 5 members on a 4 on 4 off days and nights rota system.Key Responsibilities Include:• Health, Safety & Well being• Promote a culture where the health, safety and wellbeing of colleagues is the absolute priority.• Ensure all statutory obligations, company policies and procedures are understood and adhered to at all times.• Act as a role model of Ibstock’s values and behaviours.Operational Excellence• Work with the factory team to implement the strategic plan for the site.• Utilise a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to facilitate planned preventative maintenance and stock control.• Carry out planned preventative maintenance, inspections, service and repairs. • Carry out reactive maintenance activities as required.• Ensure all relevant data is recorded accurately.• Application of the Ibstock Management System (IMS) to generate and facilitate continuous improvement practices across all areas of the manufacturing facility to optimise capability. Sustainability• Work with the factory team and the wider business to make a positive contribution to the local community, and support the most vulnerable in society. Knowledge, skills and experience:• Has knowledge of current Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation in a manufacturing workplace.• Is an outstanding team player, who is flexible and meets challenge with a pragmatic and resilient approach.• Has the ability to fault find, repair and provide solutions to problems.Desirable• Is experienced in working in a preventative planned maintenance environment.• Has experience of maintaining large engineering plant and equipment:• Maintaining Mechanical Equipment• Maintaining Fluid Power Equipment• Carrying out fault diagnosis on mechanical equipment• Condition monitoring of plant and equipment• Basic fabrication skills• Manual machining of components using lathe and milling machines• Ability to read and work to engineering drawingsQualifications:• Time served, Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) in Mechanical Maintenance (or equivalent)• BTEC ONC or above Please note, it is our policy to verify all relevant qualifications.
