Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I’m a 12-year-old boy, with cerebral palsy who uses a power chair and I live in Pontprennau with my brother and parents. I love gaming, especially football and I need a PA to help me explore other interests, as well as helping with my homework. I also enjoy going into the garden and local park to play. I have a wheelchair accessible vehicle so if you can drive, that would be a big help as this job may well evolve. I’m very intelligent and sometimes get frustrated when I’m put in groups of other disabled people that do not match my ability.
PURPOSE OF JOB
I need support with activities within my home as well as accessing the local community.
PLACE OF WORK
Although the job will start in my home, travel away from normal place of work may be required on occasions. A full driving licence for a manual vehicle is essential.
HOURS OF WORK
I have 5 hours a week of support agreed, which I need to use flexibly. Ideally, support would be mutually agreed, either after-school or a weekends. Please show your availability within your application.
RATE OF PAY
£14 an hour.
TASKS INVOLVED
● Helping me to develop my interests.
● Helping me to complete homework and other relevant tasks.
● Keeping me safe
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Essential qualities
● Reliable and punctual.
● Honest and trustworthy.
● Able to respect my privacy and confidentiality.
● Have common sense and initiative.
● Full driving licence.
● Flexible and adaptable to meet my needs.
Desirable qualities
● Similar leisure interests.
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
