Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen to temporarily join the Pennine Network Leadership Team as an Inpatient Service Manager (Band 8a, Full Time) to cover maternity leave for 9 months. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and dynamic individual to join this fast paced network to work as a core part of the Inpatient Leadership Team across Pendleview and Woodview.

The Service Manager’s role is to support the Pennine Network Leadership team by performing a variety and range of duties. The post holder is responsible for the operational management of services within Pennine overseeing inpatient services, working as part of a team alongside the Matrons, Senior Nurse Managers, Associate Medical Directors and other Service Managers, and supporting the Associate Director of Operations. They will ensure that inpatient services deliver patient pathways that meet all quality and operational performance targets and that these are monitored and tracked. This will include a focus on estates, budgetary responsibility, and strategic development within the services. The post holder will be required to form effective working relationships internally by working collaboratively with other service managers of different multi-disciplinary teams.

The post holder is responsible for the operational management of services within a locality base overseeing inpatient services, working as part of a team alongside the Matrons, Senior Nurse Managers, Associate Medical Directors and other Service Managers, and supporting the Associate Director of Operations. They will ensure that service lines deliver patient pathways that meet all quality and operational performance targets and that these are monitored and tracked. The post holder will lead, develop and manage teams within a portfolio to ensure that our services provide a high quality care for our service users, as well as supporting with service developments where required.

The post holder will be required to form effective working relationships internally by working collaboratively with other service managers of different multi-disciplinary teams, and external with clinical commissioning groups. Effective communication and interaction will also be required with stakeholders in other networks and with external stakeholders such as commissioners and other service providers, both NHS and voluntary sector.

The post holder will work in line with the Trust’s corporate objectives and will be expected to make a positive contribution to the provision of health services.



Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
