Job Description
We are looking for a Maintenance worker who is warm and friendly, has a can-do attitude and puts our nurseries at the heart of everything they do. You will be based at Rothbury Kindergarten and Low Alwinton Cottages
You will carry out maintenance requests, including minor plumbing, electrical, joinery, painting, tiling work, gardening, cleaning and any other maintenance requests. You will also be liaising with other departments to ensure our nurseries are kept in an excellent state of repair.
You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative without close supervision and be able to prioritise your work load. You also need to demonstrate good time keeping and have excellent communication skills.
Further Information
· Responsible for the implementation of the maintenance programs
· Responsible for the reactive and preventive maintenance of the nursery sites, to ensure it remains a functional, pleasant and safe environment for all employees, guests and visitors
· Perform scheduled planned preventative maintenance to minimise unplanned downtime of equipment and rooms
· Perform effective diagnosis of breakdowns and organise a timely repair of equipment
· Document breakdowns, identifying root causes and bring remedial actions to help prevent recurring issues
· Undertake risk assessments of processes and tasks as needed and devise and implement safe systems of working to ensure the health and safety of all
· Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety as well as environmental regulations and procedures
· Document and prepare daily/monthly progress reports and maintenance logs
· Will work as part of a team, but independently most of the time
· Manage maintenance projects and work in accordance with quality requirements
· Manage contractors on site to ensure they meet legal and company requirements
· Execute maintenance duties as directed by maintenance lead, manager or director
· Follow maintenance schedules as outlined
· Make small repairs and adjustments as needed
· Respond to company's maintenance needs
· Coordinate efforts across maintenance staff to make sure all tasks are completed in a timely fashion
· Must hold a clean valid driver’s license
· Will need to pass a DBS check
· Unsociable hours required 24 hours per week (Hours are negotiable)
· Good written and verbal communication skills (English)
· Basic knowledge of Microsoft tools & outlook
· Basic H&S awareness
· Able to work alone
· Able to work from heights
· Ability to use own initiative
