Summary
Landford Stud, where Team Opposition is based, have a large all-weather school, a full set of show-jumps and arena cross country skinnies, a grass show-jumping paddock (in use from late spring- early autumn) and a XC schooling paddock.
Kirsty Chabert is a 5* event rider, Arthur Chabert is a 4* event rider and John is now head of the stud operation here at Team Opposition.
The team ensure that whether their clients are based with them for training (full-time, for a season, or for a week) or coming weekly/monthly for lessons, that they feel included and welcome as part of the Team Opposition experience.
They are now recruiting for a level 2 equine groom apprentice to join their team and learn from the best!
General yard duties to include;
- Mucking out
- Turning out/bringing in
- Tack cleaning and tacking up
- Feeding and filling hay nets
- Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
- Bathing and rug changing
- Schooling
- Riding
- First aid
- Exercising horses from
the ground (lunging, horse walking, long reining, pessoa training etc.)
- Holding for
vet/farrier/dentist
You have to have been in the UK for 3 years or more to apply for this role.
This is a practical apprenticeships so not lots of time in he classroom.
If you did not gain a 4 or above in maths and English we can support you to gain this whilst on programme.
Training
All training will be provided on
site during your paid working hours.
Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination
of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training
Trainer Coach.
Qualifications required
A GCSE or equivalent pass in English
and maths is beneficial but not essential.
If you do not have passes, we will support you in achieving your
Functional Skills English and maths qualifications alongside your apprenticeship.
Skills required
Some equine experience is required due to the nature of this role.
Prospects
Possibility of progressing to a Senior Groom Level 3 Apprenticeship.
Opportunity to travel and groom at 5* level
