You should be a trained and accomplished in hospitality with front of house and customer service skills together with a knowledge of food safety, health & safety and nutrition. You should have experience of working in professional hospitality organisations and be passionate about helping others learn new skills.
A teaching vacancy has become available in the Food Academy, and we are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated lecturer to join our teaching team.
Teaching front of house, food service, employability skills and food studies skills to students at Levels 1 to 3, the ideal candidate will be someone who has worked in the catering industry for at least 5 years. Knowledge and experience in working in a restaurant is essential.
We are looking for someone who shares our desire to challenge and excite our students to become professional chefs or hospitality staff in the demanding and fast-paced industry.
You should also be committed to providing prompt, detailed assessment of student work. Experience of personal tutoring including target setting and Functional Skills delivery is also desirable. It is probable that you will be running the College Training Restaurant at lunchtimes and an evening every week during term time.
Ideally you will hold a current teaching qualification but mentoring and training would be available for those who do not. You should also hold qualifications in your own discipline and have clear evidence of continued professional development.
