Job Description
Love In Care is looking for caring, dependable people to support customers in their own homes, and occasionally in local care homes, throughout Leeds and Yorkshire. You will work with children, adults and older people, helping them stay safe, independent and comfortable.
What the role involves
Personal care, medication prompts and safe moving & handling.
Meal preparation, light housework and essential shopping.
Friendly conversation and emotional support.
Clear written notes and timely updates to families and professionals.
Contacting GPs, district nurses or the emergency services when required.
Working alone or alongside another carer, adapting to different needs and routines.

Key Responsibilities
Personal care – help with bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting.
Medication support – give or prompt prescribed medicines and keep accurate records.
Mobility assistance – aid safe moving and transferring, using equipment where needed.
Meal preparation – cook nutritious meals that meet each client’s dietary needs.
Household tasks – light cleaning, laundry and essential shopping.
Companionship – offer conversation, emotional support and engaging activities.
Record‑keeping – write clear notes on care given, observations and any changes.
Communication – liaise with families, healthcare professionals and colleagues to keep care co‑ordinated.
Promoting independence – encourage clients to make choices and do as much as they can for themselves.
Safety & risk management – spot hazards in the home and act quickly to keep everyone safe.
Duties may vary to meet individual client needs and Love In Care policies.
Skills & Experience

Essential
Level 2 literacy, numeracy and IT skills – (or equivalent), with a willingness to keep learning.
Care experience – Paid or voluntary, with children, young people or adults; experience of learning disabilities or special educational needs is an advantage.
Health‑and‑safety awareness – Being able to complete mandatory training and follow company policies and procedures.
Risk‑assessment skills – Recognise hazards and act to safeguard customers and colleagues.
Empathy and respect – For the rights, dignity and cultural needs of customers and fellow carers.
Safeguarding knowledge – For children, young people and adults, and commitment to follow all rules.
Full UK driving licence and access to a car – For travel between visits (mileage reimbursed).
Desired
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or Caring for Vulnerable Adults.
Other relevant training, e.g., Safeguarding, food hygiene, behaviour management, etc.
