Role length: Anticipated 3 months
Working arrangements: Mostly remote, may need to visit the office once a month
Additional information: It is possible this role will be extended beyond the initial 3 months
The role:
We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Accounting and Technical Finance Manager to manage the Statement of Accounts Audit and statutory Collection Funds.
This is a key role within the finance team, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and delivering high-quality financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the production of the Council’s annual Statement of Accounts, ensuring compliance with code of practice and all relevant legislation
Lead on the audit process, liaising effectively with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion
Oversee the statutory accounting for Collection Fund including forecasting and reconciliation
Provide technical financial advice to senior stakeholders across the organisation
Monitor changes in accounting standards and ensure their effective implementation
Support continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and reporting
What the client is looking for:
CCAB or equivalent qualification
A strong technical understanding of local government accounting and audit requirements
Demonstrable experience of managing the Statement of Accounts process from end-to-end
Experience in dealing with external auditors and leading complex financial audits
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels
