An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Engagement Lead to join our brand new team within the new Academic Centre for Healthy Ageing (ACHA).
ACHA, hosted at Whipps Cross Hospital, is anchored to the Barts Health ambition to transform Whipps Cross to become a world class centre of excellence, leveraging academic collaborations with Queen Mary University London and other partners to achieve outstanding care and support patients within North East London to live healthier lives for longer.
While the NHS has implemented policy and practice changes to improve care and support provision, there are gaps in research and knowledge that hinder the effectiveness of these changes. To help address these gaps, ACHA is taking a unique and innovative approach by placing research on the front line of local health and care services to create a ‘living laboratory’.
This approach will bring together frontline experience and ‘real-world’ situations with academic research to improve understanding of the specific needs of local populations and develop targeted interventions and services accordingly.
We are committed to building strong, meaningful patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) and to strengthen PPIE across the entire integrated care system. This means ensuring the ACHA’s output truly adds value to people’s lives and the local community through continuous engagement and co-production to accurately capture consumer knowledge, expertise and experience.
The post holder will be an active and enthusiastic member of the ACHA team, leading on patient and public engagement and involvement, and working to ensure the patient and public voice is embedded throughout ACHA’s work. This will include coordination, communication and engagement with key stakeholders through a variety of methods.
This role is for a strategic PPIE specialist who has a track record of delivering coproduction and innovative engagement activities and has a passion for working with people.
This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a team working to create an inclusive community of practice around research delivery across Barts Health, to share learning and contribute to the evidence base, ensuring that PPIE impact evidence is accessible and shared in a way which will benefit the development of future research projects, policy and practice.
Your primary base will be at Whipps Cross Hospital. However, there will be an expectation to work across north east London as required with some home-working.
The full job description provides an overview of the key tasks and responsibilities of the role, and the person specification outlines the qualifications, skills, experience, and knowledge required.
For informal enquires please contact Lauren Ellis, ACHA Director vialauren.ellis8@nhs.net
