To practice within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. To be professionally accountable for the effective and efficient management of own caseload, taking into account the need to combine ones own responsibilities and those of the multi-disciplinary team. To be responsible for the setting of the highest standards of care within the resources available and to review and monitor these on a continuous basis through the process of audit, including case review, on-going supervision, and appraisals of self /others where relevant. To lead and encourage a positive approach to health education and health promotion. Offer consultancy and specialist input to a range of other professionals and agencies in relation to clients with complex needs over a range of complex situations, which will include complex healthcare needs and personal relationships. To be actively and regularly involved in working parties/forums where policy and service changes are proposed that will have an impact on other disciplines, departments and agencies, this will include primary, secondary and tertiary caring services. To participate in ensuring that accommodation, equipment and consumable goods are efficiently and effectively requisitioned, safely used, disposed and replaced. To participate in the investigation of complaints, concerns or incidents related to nursing services in accordance with the level of experience; and encourage comments and suggestions on improving the quality of the service in liaison with the person who has continuing responsibility. To be actively involved in the recruitment and selection of staff in conjunction with the person who has continuing responsibility in liaison with the Team Manager/Service Manager. Advice and influence local and regional policy, strategy and operational practice in relation to health needs of people with learning disabilities. To undertake generic and/or Health and Safety risk assessments as appropriate, and report findings to the Team Manager/Professional Leads and be involved in adverse incident reporting.
