To assist the nursing team with daily patient cares Participate in admission and discharge of patients Keep stock check of the ward Report accidents/incidents to the nurse in charge Maintain confidentiality of all medical and nursing records Carry out observations and inform the nursing staff Communicate with patients and families in order to promote comfort and well-being throughout their stay Perform hoisting and transferring safely of a patient Apply brace and splints as necessary Support the care of all patients learning new orthopaedic skills Collect specimens Attend all mandatory training and Online learning to enhance knowledge To assist in orientation programme for new staff Participate in a personal development plan Participate in patient education as directed by trained nurses Keep the ward equipment clean and tidy Project a professional appearance in behaviour and manner of dress Welcome new patients and their relatives/carers and help them settle onto the ward Answer the telephone and refer enquiries to the appropriate member of staff Assist in promoting and open and friendly working environment Encourage a good working relationship with the multi-disciplinary team. To report any potential complaints or incidents to the ward manager/nurse in charge and participate in the process as appropriate Adhere to the trust uniform policy Work as an advocate for the patients and families on the ward.
