Summary of the Roles Main Purpose: As a valued member of the care team at Helen & Douglas House, you will provide compassionate, hands-on care to children and young people with complex needs, disabilities, and life-limiting conditions. Your role will involve supporting their physical and emotional wellbeing, while also offering practical and sensitive support to their families during what can be a deeply challenging time. Working closely with experienced nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help deliver personalised care that promotes dignity, comfort, and independence. You will contribute to the daily running of the hospice, helping to prepare the house for admissions and ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff. This includes supporting the psychological wellbeing of everyone in the setting by fostering a calm, respectful, and nurturing atmosphere. You will be expected to maintain confidentiality, remain vigilant to safeguarding concerns, and uphold high standards of care and professionalism. In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will actively engage in personal development through training identified by the Clinical Team, and may be asked to buddy new team members. This role requires empathy, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families.
