Crynodeb

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible Research Practitioner to work in a number of research active areas. The aim of this post is to support the delivery of a portfolio of clinical trials across a range of areas within the Trust.

Reporting to the Trust Lead Research Nurse or Senior Research Nurse, you would provide a full administrative service.

As part of the role, you would need to be flexible with regard to supporting colleagues in different research specialties and will require a good understanding of clinical research and the legislation applicable to running clinical trials.

The posts will be based in York Hospital, but you may be required to work at other sites within the Trust and GP surgeries if necessary.

For the right candidate, this post offers work in busy teams with varied duties, an opportunity to acquire knowledge about the conduct of clinical trials and the satisfaction of making a real contribution to clinical research.

This would be a great developmental opportunity for a current clinical trials assistant or someone who has worked in a similar role.

This includes maintaining study files and documentation, arranging appointments with patients, obtaining test results and medical records, collating and submitting trial data and compiling reports on trial progress.

You will also provide clinical support to the Research Nurses/AHP, including screening, receiving consent and recruiting participants into studies as deemed appropriate for your knowledge, skill set and competence.

Demonstrating that you have worked a minimum of 2 years in clinical research would be advantageous, with knowledge and expertise regarding the mandatory standards required for conduction/construction of clinical trials.

You must be able to communicate sensitively and professionally with patients who may be seriously ill and distressed. You must also be able to communicate with staff at all levels of seniority throughout a number of hospital departments, and with sponsors, staff in the Research Network and other NHS Trusts.
