Shape the Future of North Yorkshire

We’re looking for 2 talented and ambitious Corporate and Commercial Lawyer/Solicitors to join our newly established Major Projects Legal Team—a dynamic unit at the heart of regeneration, innovation, and economic development across North Yorkshire and the newly formed York and North Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.

About the Team

You’ll be part of a forward-thinking legal service with over 60 lawyers, who are supported by a dedicated practice manager and paralegal team—all committed to excellence, collaboration, and continuous growth.

The legal team is part of Legal and Democratic Services within the Chief Executive’s Group. The Council provides a range of services across North Yorkshire, and the legal team provide a comprehensive and efficient legal service to officers, the Executive, Full Council, its Committees and Members, and external clients.

About the Role

The role will form part of the newly established Major Projects legal team and will primarily focus on providing legal support to the range of corporate delivery structures adopted by the council in its service provision. The Major Projects legal team advises and supports a range of regeneration and economic development projects across North Yorkshire, as well as providing advice to the newly formed York and North Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority. There is opportunity for this role to also support the wide range of projects being undertaken by both organisations.

To be successful, you will be experienced in the areas of work detailed in the job specification and be able to demonstrate the skills and competencies listed therein.

You’ll bring solid experience in corporate and commercial law, with the ability to advise on complex legal structures and contribute confidently to strategic projects. You’ll be a proactive problem-solver, a clear communicator, and a collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
