Summary


Are you a governance or quality professional with a passion for ethical compliance and regulatory excellence? We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Assurance Manager to lead on Human Tissue Authority (HTA) compliance across our Trust.

This is a pivotal role within our Quality team, ensuring that our organisation meets the highest standards in the handling, storage, and use of human tissue for research, diagnosis, and education.

We’re looking for someone who is:
• Experienced in quality governance, compliance, assurance roles within healthcare or research
• Knowledgeable about the Human Tissue Act and HTA licensing standards, or other regulated activity e.g. CQC Health and Social Care Act
• A confident communicator, able to influence and engage at all levels
• Highly organised, analytical, and committed to continuous improvement
• Passionate about upholding ethical standards in healthcare and research.

You will be a senior member of the Effectiveness and Assurance team that provides support and advice to the Trust (including St Cross Hospital, Rugby) and will be based at the University Hospital site Coventry. You will:
• Assist in the promotion and delivery of assurance and inspection activity across UHCW.
• Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Trust’s HTA compliance framework.
• Act as the designated point of contact for HTA inspections and correspondence.
• Provide expert advice, guidance, and training to staff on HTA requirements.
• Support continuous improvement in tissue governance and assurance processes.
• Collaborate with clinical, research, and laboratory teams to embed best practice.

• Develop systems and processes which monitor, record, report and ultimately improve the management of all HTA license activity across the organisation.
• On request, review and draft responses to external regulators (e.g. HTA, CQC) and advisory bodies to provide assurance of HTA license and regulation compliance in the Trust
• Provide information about compliance with licencing requirements as required for regional and national data collection and audit.
• Provide specialist advice and support on HTA license requirements and compliance with legislation and standards across the Trust.
• Advise on HTA matters and support all departments in their strategies and programmes to maximise organisational compliance.
• Oversee incidents and non-conformities against HTA standards and, ensure appropriate processes are in place to flag issues, risks and concerns with the relevant stakeholders.
• Lead local inspection teams and coordinate the logistics of inspection activity, providing leadership and guidance to ensure that the team provides a quality service in relation to inspection activity.
• Oversee the development, monitoring and systematic follow-up of action plans to address recommendations arising because of inspection activity. Implement a reporting framework to monitor progress of actions.
• Developing information materials and delivering education and training programmes in inspection.
