Crynodeb

In this role you will be office-based and provide intelligence-based assessments and technical support to the MOD and wider Whitehall counter-proliferation communities.

Our assessments provide risk-based intelligence analysis regarding the export of scientific equipment, technology, and “know-how” to countries with conventional military and/or WMD programmes of concern. Our team works closely with colleagues from across the MOD, UK intelligence community and other government departments. There may also be opportunities to travel within the UK and overseas.

Feel free to give it a try, even if you don't think you meet all our criteria. Training opportunities and a nurturing environment await the successful candidates who are ready to invest their time and energy into personal growth for these roles. With their specialist expertise and the provided intelligence material, the post holders will create intelligence assessments for applications submitted by:

(1) international students seeking to undertake post graduate study or research in the UK through the FCDO led Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS). Our assessments seek to limit the transfer of Advanced Conventional Military and WMD-related technical skills to postgraduate students who wish to study at UK Universities from countries of concern.

(2) UK companies and universities to export dual-use and military equipment and technology. Our assessments seek to minimise the risk to the UK Government and UK exporters under the Strategic Export Licensing Criteria. The post holder will produce all source assessments communicating the risks of applications. Our assessments consider various factors including the risks of diversion, compromising national security, reverse engineering and breaching the UK’s international obligations and commitments.

In addition to the intelligence analysis roles within TEA,

TEA 11 also has a focus on the management side of Export Licensing processes, there is therefore opportunity to liaise with OGD customers on issues relevant to Export Licensing, attend briefings alongside members of the wider intelligence community, and be the deputy to the team’s Export Licensing manager.
TEA16 has a nuclear focus, providing the opportunity to engage with OGD customers regarding Nuclear and NSG matters, as well as participate in conferences and briefings with members of the broader intelligence and international communities.
TEA17 also has a focus on the management side of ATAS. There is therefore ample opportunity to liaise with OGD customers on issues relevant to ATAS, attend conferences/briefings alongside members of the wider intelligence community, and manage the team’s resources and databases.

Note: These jobs are office based for security purposes. Opportunities for working from home are infrequent.
