The role: You will provide professional surveying expertise within the Responsive Repairs, Voids and Minor Works Team. Duties include diagnosing defects, carrying out surveys, preparing specifications, overseeing contractors, and ensuring compliance with building regulations and housing standards. You will also support disrepair cases, manage small projects, and contribute to the Council’s Zero Carbon and energy efficiency goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose defects including damp and mould and manage through to resolution.
Conduct measured surveys, stock condition surveys and compliance inspections.
Prepare specifications, budgets and feasibility reports.
Oversee contractors and ensure works meet quality, cost and time requirements.
Support disrepair cases, including attendance at court when necessary.
Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, CDM and Council policies.
What the client is looking for:
Proven experience as a Building Surveyor or similar role.
Strong knowledge of housing repairs, building regulations and compliance.
Ability to manage contractors, projects and budgets.
Good communication skills with tenants, contractors and colleagues.
Problem-solving approach with attention to detail.
Desirable:
Experience in social housing or local authority environment.
Knowledge of Zero Carbon and energy efficiency regulations.
Membership of RICS or relevant professional body.
