What skills and experience we're looking for

The Holt House and Carterknowle Schools Federation is looking for a teaching assistant to join our staff team to be based at Holt House Infant School, working in our F2 year group.

You will need to have experience of working with children in the Early Years and/or KS1, supporting them effectively in learning activities. You will be expected to be skilled in working with individuals, with small groups and in supporting the teacher with the whole class. You will need to have high expectations for what children can achieve both in their learning and in their independence, while being able to provide good pastoral support and care. As a TA you will be expected to contribute to the development of activities for children's learning, help with assessing their progress and build professional relationships with parents and carers. Good numeracy and literacy skills are essential for this post.

Playtime supervision is part of this role.

What the school offers its staff

We can offer you support and continuing professional development so that you can fulfil your role well. Holt House Infant School is a lovely school with wonderful children who are eager to learn. We are committed to meeting children’s individual learning needs, working in partnership with parents and carers.

Further information can be found on our website www.holthouse.sheffield.sch.uk.

Commitment to safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people; we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to disclose any cautions or convictions prior to interview. The amendments to the ROA Exceptions Order 1975 (2013 & 2020) provide that certain convictions and cautions are 'protected' and are therefore not subject to disclosure to employers. The successful candidate will complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and a Children’s Barred List check.
