Thepost isfor a10 PAConsultant inSexual Health &HIVMedicine for 12 months fixed term, covering maternity leave. The job is based at 56 Dean Street, Soho.The target start date is 19thNovember 2025.

56 Dean Street is an award winning HIV and sexual health service based in Soho with a particular emphasis on HIV prevention and the sexual health care needs of LGBTQI+ people. It is Europe’s busiest sexual health clinic with an attendance of approximately 110,000 patients per year. It cares for the third largest HIV cohort in the country with approximately 4,600 patients. The clinic also runs an Integrated Gender Dysphoria Service called TransPlus which the successful post holder may wish to become involved with.

The HIV inpatient service merged with the Imperial College Hospitals Trust service in 2019 and now provides care on Ron Johnson ward at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital site for inner northwest London as well as Hertfordshire.

Thepost-holder will,inconjunctionwith theexistingconsultants, haveresponsibilitiesfor providing advice,screening, diagnosis andtreatmentof patientswithSTIs,includingHIV infection. They willbe committedtodevelopingintegratedHIV &sexualhealthservices,optimizecost efficiencyofthe service, implement newtechnologies anddevelop new initiatives.

Thepost-holderwillbe requiredtobuildonexistingcloserelationswithcolleaguesand allied organisationsas partof a multidisciplinaryteam.Theywill alsobe requiredtoparticipatein quality improvement, research andmanagementof theservice. It is anticipated thatthepost-holderwill engagein specificmanagementtasksandcontributeto monthly departmentalmeetings in agreementwiththe ClinicalLead. Thepost-holderwill also beexpectedtoworkwiththeotherconsultantsat Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust todeliver andimproveoutpatientHIVcare,includingrecruitmenttoclinicaltrials.Theywill be expectedtomanagetheirown HIVcohort.

Theywill alsobeexpectedtowork alongside theother consultantsinprovidingeducational supervisionforthemultidisciplinaryteamandparticipate inWednesdaymorningeducational activities,the virtualclinicandtheweeklyDirectorateHIV resistancemeeting. Inparticular, thepost-holder willhave educational supervisoryresponsibility fornominated juniorstaff. This role willinclude appraisalofthe individualsconcerned.

Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites.

· Provideadvice, screening,diagnosis and treatmentofpatients with STIs, includingHIV infection.

· Participate in the local HIV multidisciplinary meeting at 56 Dean Street.

· Contribute to implementation of clinical pathways

· ProvideconsultantadviceandsupporttomultidisciplinaryteamworkinginHIV andGUMclinics.Review complex cases requiringsenior input.

· Managetheir owncaseloadofHIVpatients.

· Providesupervision and support for nursing colleagues and junior medical colleagues providing management of stable patient cohorts, managementof seroconversion, starting/switchingtreatment andmanagementof complex or unwell patients.

· Workwithcolleagues tomodernise theHIVcarepathwaytoensure effectiveuseofresources.

· Develop a special interest clinic (e.g. Gender dysphoria, complex PrEP, anoscopy, chronic problem)
