Job Title: Production Operative (Night Shift) - Progression to Supervisor

Location: Rochdale

Hours: Monday - Thursday, 18:00 - 06:00 (initial training on days: Mon - Thu, 38.5 hrs/week)

Contract: Permanent / Full-Time

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Production Operative to join our dedicated night shift team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong mechanical engineering background who is looking to apply their technical skills in a manufacturing environment, with a clear progression path to Supervisor / Lead Operative.

Following comprehensive training on our day shift, you will move into a key role on our night shift operations, supporting the team with machine set-up, production, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor a range of production machinery, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Apply mechanical engineering knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain high quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth handovers between shifts.
  • Work under pressure to meet production targets and deadlines.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong mechanical engineering background - formal qualifications advantageous but not essential.
  • Proven machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Confident problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a small, close-knit team.
  • Resilient and able to perform well under pressure.
  • A continuous improvement mentality, always seeking smarter and more efficient ways of working.
  • Knowledge of heat treatment processes desirable but not essential (training can be provided).
