Summary
The Best Connection are seeking an experienced and proactive Housekeeping Team Leader to lead a small, dedicated team within a busy care environment in Chesterfield. Your work will help ensure a consistently clean, safe, and welcoming space across clinical and non-clinical areas, directly supporting patient and staff well being.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in high standards, leads by example, and thrives in a people-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Superrvise and support the housekeeping team to deliver high cleanliness standards
- Ensure compliance with COSHH, infection control, and health and safety regulations
- Conduct audits and regular quality checks, taking corrective action when needed
- Manage staff rotas, leave, and absences to ensure effective cover
- Foster a positive and supportive team culture
- Address performance or conduct issues with professionalism and care
- Support onboarding, training, and ongoing development of team members
- Work closely with clinical and operational teams to meet specialist cleaning needs
- Oversee stock ordering and control to maintain supplies and manage costs
What We're Looking For:
- Significant experience in housekeeping or cleaning services
- Strong understanding of cleanliness standards, infection control, and safety procedures
- Experience leading or supervising a team (healthcare, care, or hospitality background preferred)
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to lead with empathy, fairness, and professionalism
- Confident communicator who can provide clear guidance and constructive feedback
- Comfortable using basic digital tools for rotas, reporting, and communication
Desirable Skills Housekeeping Team Leader (Not Essential):
- Experience supporting audits or inspections (e.g. CQC)
- Knowledge of staff management systems or digital platforms such as Outlook, Teams, Excel
- Training or experience in coaching and mentoring
- Previous experience in a hospice, hospital, or palliative care setting
