There is close working with the complex aortic team at Royal Papworth Hospital, with joint MDT meetings and a joint clinic. Dedicated multidisciplinary Diabetic Foot services are well established in Addenbrookes Hospital, West Suffolk Hospital, and Peterborough City Hospital, and there is a further opportunity to enhance such delivery at the Spoke Hospitals. The Vascular Unit is supported by a team of 12 full-time Consultant Vascular Surgeons, a seven Scientist Vascular Studies Unit, a team of Vascular Specialist Nurses (at CUH and spoke hospitals), a large dedicated Vascular Ward, and a Hybrid Operating Theatre. There is ample opportunity for the successful applicant to develop or advance sub-speciality interests within the unit. Complex activity is performed within the unit in all major vascular subspeciality areas. All the Surgeons spend one day at a Spoke Site, and the successful applicant with be based at both CUH (80%) and West Suffolk Hospital (20%). There is an active clinical research programme, and many opportunities exist in Cambridge for candidates keen to be involved in research. The hospital is at the heart of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus: http://cambridge-biomedical.com/. Expanding the academic activity and profile of clinical and non-clinical research in the department is a priority. Please refer to the Job description and Person specification attached for further details on the main responsibilities and duties for this post.
