A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Speech & Language Therapist to join the SLT team within our band 6 rotations. The rotations include Stroke (HASU & ASU), Neuro Cardiac, Acute (General & Specialist Medicine), Neuro Rehabilitation at The Wolfson Rehabilitation Unit, Acute paediatrics and Community Outpatients within Wandsworth Community SLT team. The postholder will be part of a progressive and supportive speech and language team consisting of 30+ SLTs across a range of specialities. Great emphasis is placed on supervision and professional development along with a commitment to innovation and research. Experience working with adults and /or paediatrics with communication and swallowing impairments is essential as is dysphagia training. Working closely with patients, carers families and key agencies is an important part of the work. Excellent communication skills are essential and an interest in the process as well as the outcomes of rehabilitation is desirable.
Assessing, treating and managing caseload of adults with acquired communication and/or swallowing disorders relevant to specialist SLT skills
- Making differential diagnosis on the basis of evidence from assessment.
- Devising, implementing and evaluating individualised treatment programmes
- Referral to instrumental assessments of swallowing
- Counselling and advising others regarding the management and care of patients with communication and/or feeding and swallowing difficulties.
- Managing and prioritising own caseload and workload independently.
- Liaise with other colleagues and professional groups and referring patients for further investigation and/or second opinions as required.
-Maintaining adequate records of assessment, management, and treatment of patients.
An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our highly skilled Speech and Language Therapy service and work within the neurosciences department. This post holder will carry a caseload covering stroke and wider neurological etiologies with support to the rest of the acute neurosciences and trauma teams. They will have the opportunity to work on our instrumental assessment rota and work towards relevant clinical competencies. The post holder will have experience providing SLT assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders within an MDT setting. The post holder will carry their own caseload and have an important role in liaising with other specialist services to optimise patient outcomes.
The post holder will receive regular supervision and support to develop specialist clinical skills. They will be joining a highly supportive and innovative Speech and Language Therapy Department, offering well established CPD and learning opportunities.
