Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot is part of the Frimley NHS Foundation Trust , we are seeking a Health Care Assistant to join our dedicated Orthopaedic Operating Theatre Team. We are a busy efficient elective unit with an excellent, modern working environment.
A Healthcare Assistant (HCA) works as part of the multidisciplinary team, assists setting up, preparing Theatres and patients for surgery. The HCA assists the Theatre practitioners and surgical team during procedures with equipment, instruments and patient care.
We welcome applications from motivated, enthusiastic applicants who are committed to providing excellent patient care. Good communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team in a fast paced and busy environment is essential. Experience within an Operating Theatre or hospital environment is desirable but not essential. Training, support and development is given by the theatre teams.

Applications are for full time 37.5 hours worked over 3/4 days, doing 07:30 - 19:30 shifts from Monday to Saturday . Applicants should be willing to do cross-site working with Wexham Park Hospital and Frimley Park Hospital if required.
• To work as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
• To undertake any necessary housekeeping if required to ensure a suitable Theatre environment.
• Participate in providing physical and psychological support to the patient.
• To assist the surgical team with assigned tasks.
• To adhere to policies regarding confidentiality.

The role of the Healthcare Assistant in the Operating Theatres is vital and full training will be given. Your role will include:
• Preparation of operating Theatres for surgery. Setting up equipment, instruments, inputting data onto computers.
• Cleaning and maintaining the Theatres and store areas.
• Assisting the Theatre practitioners during Theatre lists.
• Assisting in the anaesthetic room prior to surgery.
• Assist the scrub practitioner with the collection of all relevant packs and instrumentation for the operating session.
• Ensure that the Theatres and scrub areas are equipped and ready.
• Assist with circulating duties under the supervision of the registered
practitioner.
• Undertake other duties as directed by the Theatre staff.
• Maintain Theatre stock levels and participate in the ordering of replacements.
• As part of the Theatre team ensure the care and cleanliness of Theatres and all specialised equipment.
