Job Overview:
The Vaishnava Priest will be responsible for leading and conducting the daily religious services, rituals, and ceremonies at the temple, providing spiritual guidance to the community, and playing a key role in the temple's cultural and religious activities. This is a full-time position with responsibilities extending beyond daily rituals to include managing special ceremonies, festivals, and volunteer coordination
Key Responsibilities:
1. Daily Rituals & Ceremonies:
• Lead daily prayers and rituals, including Arti, Puja, and Abhishekam.
• Perform special ceremonies such as weddings, Naming ceremonies,
Anniversary prayers, and Navaratri celebrations.
• Ensure the temple’s sanctum and deity offerings are maintained according to
Hindu traditions.
2. Festival and Special Event Leadership:
• Take charge of organizing and overseeing the temple’s major festivals,
including Diwali, Pongal, Sri Krishna Jayanti, and others.
• Lead community gatherings during festivals, ensuring rituals are conducted
with precision and devotion.
• Collaborate with other priests, volunteers, and the administrative team for
event planning.
3. Spiritual Guidance:
• Provide spiritual counselling and guidance to temple visitors, answering
religious questions and helping individuals with their spiritual needs.
• Offer teachings on Hindu philosophy, scriptures (e.g., Bhagavad Gita,
Ramayana, Vedas), and rituals.
4. Community Engagement:
• Act as a spiritual leader for the temple community, fostering a welcoming,
inclusive, and respectful environment for all devotees.
• Maintain regular communication with temple-goers, including guiding them
on religious matters, counselling, and providing blessings during visits.
5. Team Leadership:
• Supervise and coordinate the work of assistant priests and other volunteers
involved in temple services and community activities.
• Lead and guide the Religious & Rituals Team, ensuring everyone is trained
and organised.
6. Administrative Support:
• Work alongside the Temple Administrator and Volunteer Coordinator to
ensure smooth temple operations.
• Support with scheduling temple services, preparing for festivals, and assisting
with temple events.
7. Temple Maintenance and Upholding Religious Standards:
• Ensure the sanctity of the temple premises and its adherence to religious
protocols.
• Work with the administrative team to ensure the temple’s cleanliness, upkeep,
and readiness for services.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Skills:
• Deep Knowledge of Hindu Rituals: Comprehensive understanding of traditional
Hindu rituals, prayers, ceremonies, and scriptures.
• Leadership & Communication: Ability to lead religious ceremonies and
communicate effectively with a diverse community. Strong public speaking skills.
• Organisational: Ability to manage multiple ceremonies and events simultaneously,
ensuring accuracy and devotion.
• Community Engagement: Sensitivity to the spiritual and cultural needs of devotees,
offering them guidance and support.
• Multilingual: Ability to read and speak languages such as Sanskrit, Tamil, or Hindi
(preferred for scripture reading and rituals).
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well with temple committees, volunteers, and
community members.
Experience:
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Hindu priest, performing daily rituals, leading
ceremonies, and guiding the community.
• Previous experience in managing or coordinating major Hindu festivals and events.
• Experience in temple management and team leadership is a plus.
• Experience in community outreach and spiritual counselling is desirable.
Qualifications:
• Formal Religious Training: Degree or certification in Hindu studies, religious
rituals, or related fields (from a recognised institution or spiritual body).
• Hindu Ritual Training: Formal training in conducting Hindu rituals, ceremonies,
and scriptural readings.
• Health & Safety Training: Understanding of health and safety regulations,
particularly for events involving large gatherings (desirable).
