The role:
On behalf of a local council, we are seeking two Young Persons Advisors for the UASC Team. This is an established team which provides strong support to young people in care and care leavers.
This role will involve being allocated young people to pathway plan and support them in settling into the local area and achieving housing, education and positive health and emotional wellbeing.
Ideally you will have previous experience of working with young people, ideally within a social care, education, or youth work setting.
Key Responsibilities may include:
Build positive, trusting relationships with young people in care and care leavers.
Support the development and implementation of pathway plans in line with statutory requirements.
Help young people settle into the local community, accessing housing, education, training, and employment opportunities.
Promote positive health and emotional wellbeing through tailored support and advocacy.
Work closely with social workers, carers, and partner agencies to provide coordinated support.
Encourage resilience, independence, and aspirations for each young person.
What the client is looking for:
Experience of working with young people, ideally within a social care, education, or youth work setting.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
An understanding of the challenges faced by unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and young people leaving care.
A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in practice.
The ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
