Join us as a Governance Manager

  • This is a fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into and shape the way decisions are made across our Group
  • You’ll be responsible for advising on good governance practice to promote effective individual decision making across the franchises and functions and on the frameworks that support individuals subject to the Senior Managers Regime (SMR)
  • Expect to grow your network and gain exposure to a wide range of stakeholders, an understanding of how the bank operates and help to build a simpler bank
  • You’ll work from home some of the time, but you’ll also spend a significant amount of time working from the Edinburgh or London office

What you'll do

As a Governance Manager, you’ll provide a foundation for high-performance by advising key stakeholders across the organisation on governance best practice, clarity of accountability and support the programme to simplify governance and decision-making processes. Alongside this, you’ll provide cross-business insights to and act as a point of contact for stakeholders on individual decision making.

Your other key responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting and updating corporate governance guidance and training materials
  • Advising on and clarifying individual accountabilities under the SMR and how committees and other forums can support individual decision making
  • Identifying opportunities to improve corporate governance and SMR processes to drive the simplification agenda
  • Driving consistency and compliance with the corporate governance policy
  • Supporting governance projects such as governance and accountability reviews

The skills you'll need

To make an impact with us, you’ll need an understanding of the NatWest Group franchises and functions and the challenges that they face. In addition, you’ll need to have an interest in removing complexity, improving processes and supporting colleagues to harness new technologies. An awareness of the governance and regulatory environment applicable to complex financial services organisations would be an advantage.

You’ll also bring:

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • The ability to build great working relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience of producing comprehensive and clearly structured reports and guidance
  • A creative mindset and the ability to manage multiple tasks and react quickly to changing priorities
