Salary range £102 for half a day and £204 for a full day

About the Role

Trafford Council Family Placement Panel Members Wanted (Sessional Basis)

Trafford Council is looking for compassionate and thoughtful individuals to join its Family Placement Panel, which plays a vital role in shaping the lives of children who need safe, nurturing homes.

The panel meets three times a month at Trafford Town Hall and reviews important decisions about foster care, including:

  • Approving new foster carers
  • Reviewing existing foster carers to ensure children continue to thrive
  • Considering when it may be necessary to end a foster carer’s registration

Panel members are expected to attend at least 50% of meetings and must bring insight, empathy, and a strong commitment to putting children’s needs and voices at the heart of every decision.

About you

We are looking for people with professional or personal experience of children living in foster families or being cared for away from their birth families. We are looking for people with varied identities, experiences and perspectives You’ll need:

  • A deep understanding of the diverse ways families can support and love children
  • The ability to listen carefully, weigh complex information, and always ask: “What’s best for this child?”
  • A belief in the power of stability, safety, and belonging to help children grow and flourish
