Support Worker - Gloucester (£13.50/hr)
Location: Gloucester Pay Rate: £13.50 per hour Contract Type: Flexible hours available (including evenings/weekends) Start Date: Immediate
We are seeking a committed and compassionate Support Worker to provide 1:1 support to a 16-year-old girl in care in Gloucester. This role requires someone with experience in residential childcare or supported living settings, who can offer a safe, consistent, and nurturing environment while promoting independence.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide emotional and practical support to a young person with complex needs and a history of trauma.

Support care planning, safeguarding, and risk management processes.

Promote independence while maintaining safety and consistency.

Use positive behaviour support strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour.

Build strong, trusting relationships and act as a positive role model.
Qualifications & Training:

Current Safeguarding Children training (Level 2 or above).

Enhanced DBS check (must be on the update service or willing to obtain).

Previous experience in residential childcare or supported living settings.
Skills & Competencies:

Understanding of Looked After Children procedures and the impact of trauma and attachment.

Ability to manage challenging behaviour with empathy and professionalism.

Strong relationship-building skills with young people.

Professional knowledge of legislation, safeguarding, and maintaining appropriate boundaries.

Confident in record-keeping, report writing, and working within statutory frameworks.
