Are you a finalist or qualified accountant looking for a role where your expertise will make a real impact? LJMU is seeking a talented and driven Financial Accountant to join our dynamic Finance Department in a key and influential position.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping the financial future of a leading institution.

What You'll Be Doing:

Reporting to the Finance Manager - Financial Accounts and Insurance, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering a professional financial accounting service across the University and its subsidiaries. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Statutory reporting in line the HE/FE Sorp, and OfS Accounts Direction
  • Leading on external audit
  • Tax compliance, including complex VAT and Corporate Tax, UK and overseas
  • Finance due diligence
  • Supporting cash flow forecasting
  • Interpreting complex financial and non-financial data
  • Partnering with colleagues across departments to support financial decision-making


What We're Looking For:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA finalist or qualified
  • Degree or AAT qualified
  • Strong technical accounting skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in preparing complex financial statements and external audit
  • Strong technical accounting skills and up-to-date knowledge of financial reporting standards
  • Experience with complex VAT returns and financial software
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
  • A proactive, hands-on team player with leadership potential
