•Care and Welfare: Ensure your dog is well-groomed, fed, exercised, and receives regular veterinary care to maintain optimal health and performance.
•Compliance with Standards: Adhere to SIA regulations and NASDU safety protocols to ensure the safety of yourself, your dog, and others during operations.
•Team Collaboration: Work closely with other security personnel, dog handlers, or clients, maintaining clear communication and coordination to achieve security objectives.
•Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of your dog’s training progress, health status, and performance metrics, as required by NASDU and organizational policies.
•Public Interaction: Represent the organization professionally when interacting with clients, the public, or stakeholders, demonstrating the effectiveness of you and your dog.
Qualifications
•SIA License: Must hold a valid SIA license for Security Guarding or Door Supervision.
•NASDU Certification: Must possess a valid NASDU certification.
•Dog Certification: Must own a dog with a valid certification for security work (e.g., NASDU canine certification or equivalent), demonstrating the dog’s suitability for security tasks.
•Experience: Proven experience in security dog handling, preferably in private security, law enforcement, or related fields, with a track record of working with your own dog.
•Knowledge: Strong understanding of canine behavior, training techniques, and health care, aligned with NASDU and SIA guidelines.
•Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, clients, and the public.
•Licenses: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Working Conditions
•Work involves indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to various weather conditions and potentially high-risk situations.
•Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, or on-call duties, based on security operational needs.
•Must provide own NASDU-compliant equipment for the dog (e.g., leash, collar, harness, or specialized gear) unless provided by the employer.
