Assistant Head Teacher job summary
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative Assistant Head Teacher to assist the Executive Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher in leading the school, building on existing strengths and achievements and delivering high quality outcomes. Our new Assistant Head Teacher should be an outstanding leader, who is able to articulate the vision for the school and Trust and who will inspire and empower others to share the same in achieving it. The successful candidate will have experience of leading on an area of Assessment and Standards across the whole school and is able to show sustained impact. They will also have experience of leading a core subject across the whole school.
The chosen candidate will become an integral part of the team at Albany Learning Trust and as such will have the opportunity to play an active role in the development of the wider network, building on a background of success in delivering the Trust’s vision through professional development, school to school support, coaching, mentoring and growth.
Successful applicants will be able to:

engage and inspire pupils and set high expectations for learning and behaviour

demonstrate their deep understanding of pedagogy across a range of subjects

show excitement by thinking innovatively and working as part of an effective team and confident to embrace change

model excellent practice which impacts on results and outcomes

demonstrate outstanding and innovative pedagogical practice

take a lead role in developing, implementing and evaluating policies and practice impact on pupils' knowledge and progress

undertake research into best practice and draw on research outcomes and other sources of external evidence to inform own practice and that of colleagues

ensure the highest standard of teaching and learning across school through coaching and mentoring of staff

contribute to the professional development and appraisal of colleagues using a broad range of skills appropriate to their needs so that they demonstrate enhanced and effective practice

practise their commitment to a culture of safeguarding and child protection and be a member of the deputy safeguarding team

work with the governing board to achieve the aims outlined in the school development plan

demonstrate a flexible approach to responding to the changing needs of the school
