Clinical Pharmacist – GP Practice (Bognor Regis, South Coast)

A friendly, forward-thinking GP practice located in Bognor Regis, just a short walk from the sea, is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Clinical Pharmacist to join its multi-disciplinary team. The practice serves a diverse and growing patient population and prides itself on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

The Role

The Clinical Pharmacist will work closely with GPs, nurses, and healthcare professionals to deliver structured medication reviews, optimise prescribing, and improve patient safety. The post-holder will also support medicines optimisation initiatives, provide patient consultations, and, if qualified, manage prescribing within scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Conduct structured medication reviews, especially for patients with long-term conditions or polypharmacy.


  • Support safe, effective, and evidence-based prescribing, including monitoring of high-risk medicines.


  • Provide consultations (face-to-face, telephone, or video) for medicines-related issues.


  • Promote deprescribing and reduce medication-related harm.


    Independent Prescribing (if qualified):

    • Prescribe within clinical competence and monitor treatment effectiveness.


    • Manage minor ailments and chronic disease reviews in line with protocols.


      Medicines Optimisation & Practice Support

      • Lead on audits, QOF, IIF, and prescribing incentive schemes.


      • Collaborate with community pharmacies, care homes, and NHS partners.


      • Advise on cost-effective prescribing aligned with NICE guidance and local formulary.


      • Educate patients on safe medication use and support adherence.


        Education & Development

        • Provide medicines-related training to practice staff.


        • Stay up to date with guidance and attend CPPE/PCN events.


        • Support and mentor pharmacy technicians where appropriate.

            Candidate Requirements

            Essential:

            • GPhC-registered pharmacist (MPharm or equivalent).


            • Strong clinical knowledge, communication, and patient focus.


            • Experience in general practice, hospital, or community pharmacy.


            • Commitment to CPD and evidence-based practice.


            • Completion of the CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway.


              Desirable:

              • Independent Prescribing qualification.


              • Experience with SystmOne and e-prescribing systems.


              • Familiarity with QOF, IIF, and NHS England frameworks.
