General To take responsibility for the administrative process of the clinical pathway for patients at various stages of their clinical journey in receiving treatment. To understand current and future requirements for individual patients and take proactive steps to ensure that the pathway is maintained. To support and liaise with the clinical teams etc in progressing patients journeys within national guidance and improve patient care and experience. To alert the service providers, through the escalation policy, where personal intervention has been unsuccessful in a timely manner to allow corrective action to be achieved. To ensure accurate and timely capture of data to meet the standards of the Trust to support quality improvement of the service. To provide regular feedback to the team leaders and general managers as deemed necessary. To be highly efficient in the use of computer and information systems where data collection across multiple systems is required, recognising the vital requirement for the highest levels of accuracy. To appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information. To support the Administration Team to manage and track the patients through every stage of the patient pathway on a daily basis, to ensure diagnostic tests and any subsequent treatments are achieved within targets and escalate any potential delays in pathways as protocol which will result in breaches as soon as these are identified. Maintain close communication with the Service Mangers updating them on a regular basis on work progress and alerting them to of any problems that may result in a delay in the patients treatment Organisational To organise own day-to-day workload. Supervision is given by the Surgical operational management team. To work in accordance with all departmental and Trust policies and procedures. To participate in departmental audit/surveys as required. To ensure, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974, to take reasonable care for the safety of himself / herself and other persons who may be affected by his / her omissions at work. To attend mandatory training sessions as determined by the Trust. To comply with the Trust Manual Handling Policy. To report all accidents, incident and complaints in accordance with Trust Policy. To support training of new members of staff. To undertake any other duties as appropriate to the role. To prioritise and manage a defined workload. To support in the management of the patients journey through their RTT pathways ensuring that diagnostics and appointments are not delayed. To support all Processes/protocols to be implemented and actioned within the necessary timeframes in order to avoid breaches of the cancer pathway milestones. To support training of new staff. To advise other staff members within the Trust on the principles of RTT. Effort Job requires keyboard/VDU use interspersed with answering the telephone, with the requirement to sit for long periods at a time. There will be occasional exposure to emotional/distressing information when dealing with patient pathways. Job may require pushing notes trolleys and lifting of patient notes for as required. Frequent necessity to work under pressure during busy periods.
