An exciting opportunity has arisen for a SENCo to join our Learning Support team, reporting to our Group Head of Learning Support Services. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive the highest quality support, enabling them to achieve their full potential.
You will work closely with students, families, teachers, and external agencies to assess needs, implement strategies, and monitor progress. As a SENCo with Redcar and Cleveland College you will be responsible for leading and coordinating high-quality support for learners with High Needs and/or an EHCP, ensuring their educational progress and wellbeing. You will manage learning support staff and resources, oversee the implementation of the college’s SEN policy, liaise with external agencies, complete exam concessions and documentation for the Local Authority, and provide guidance and training to colleagues to promote inclusive practice.
The ideal candidate will be highly organised, proactive, and able to work to high levels of accuracy and attention to detail. They will have excellent IT, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and support both learners and colleagues. A willingness to learn, develop professionally, and maintain a relentless focus on improving the life chances of learners with SEND is essential.
The successful candidate will ideally hold a Certificate in Education/PGCE (or be willing to work towards one) and a degree or vocational qualification in a relevant subject. English and maths at Level 2 (minimum) are required. Previous experience in supporting learners with High Needs and/or an EHCP, leading reviews, and completing exam concessions would be highly advantageous, but full training and ongoing professional development will be provided.
