R Baker (Electrical) Ltd is a well-established electrical engineering company with over 40 years of experience in the manufacture and repair of industrial and marine electrical equipment. We are highly respected within our field and work with major clients across the UK, including within the defence and marine sectors.
We are now seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer with strong experience in transformer and motor winding to join our growing team.
The Role
As part of our engineering team, you will:
Test transformers, armatures, and motors to ensure correct operation.
Wind and assemble transformers up to 250kVA.
Rewind, dismantle, fault-find, reassemble, and test electrical equipment.
Inspect electro-mechanical equipment for damage or electrical malfunction.
Assemble and test sub-assemblies and final builds using electrical and mechanical equipment.
Manufacture coils, transformers, control panels, electrical motors, and fuse panels.
Maintain, service, and repair electrical/mechanical transformers, pumps, control units, and obsolete equipment.
Work on inspection and dismantling of electrical equipment for defence and marine use.
Work efficiently while following company Health & Safety policies.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
A strong background in electrical engineering.
Proven experience with transformers or motors (essential).
At least 5 years’ electrical engineering experience (required).
3+ years’ transformer winding experience (preferred).
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong manual dexterity and ability to carry out precise technical work.
A full UK driving licence (for off-site work).
An aptitude for both electrical and mechanical work.
